London then and now / J Fishenden

home \ London then and now

This page illustrates a variety of experimental "then and now techniques" for revealing the past of a place. Several techniques are used: a lens that can be moved about and resized, revealing aspects of the place from the past; left to right mouse movements, which reveal underlying images and layers related to that place; and clicking an image to reveal an underlying layer. The techniques utilised on this page incorporate refinements derived from ongoing iterative usability testing, both online and in a usability lab.

Clicking on an image below will launch the example in full-screen for user interaction (requires Microsoft Silverlight or the Mono Moonlight browser plug-in).

Feedback is now closed (2nd November 2011). Many thanks to all of you who provided feedback on these compositions and techniques.
